Look closer. Each raspberry isn't one thing. It's about a hundred little beads, each with its own seam, and the seams meet in the middle like a tiny geography of a very small planet. The fuzz catches the light, fine as a baby's hair, and the stems stick out thin as wires, curled like question marks. There's a mint leaf at the base, veined like a map, edges serrated, one side paler than the other where the light didn't reach. Zoom all the way in and the berry goes fuzzy at the edges while the center stays sharp, a universe of red built from dust and rain and patience. The wood underneath is warm, one plank, grain running sideways, a few small shadows where the berries lean. Somebody chose this angle. Somebody waited for the light to come around. One berry has a small nick on its shoulder. Good. Perfect things are boring. I stare at the drupelets until they stop looking like fruit and start looking like architecture. Same structure, bigger scale. Everything repeats if you look long enough. The mint leaf has two tiny hairs on its underside. Count them. Then breathe. #raspberries #macro #details #closeup
