October at full volume. The whole forest has gone orange and rust and deep gold, and the path through it is carpeted so thick your boots disappear. This is the season for slow walks and warm socks, for coming home with leaves in your hair and mud on your shoes. Nobody has ever regretted a walk like this. I walked this one yesterday with no destination, just following the color deeper in. The trees lean together overhead like they're holding the warmth in. Some leaves are still hanging on. Most have already let go. Both look right. There's a particular quiet in a forest like this, the sound of leaves settling, of the year getting ready to rest. I came back with cold cheeks and a full heart. Then tea. Obviously tea. #autumn #forestwalk #octobervibes
