From up here the world is white and quiet, an ocean of spruce trees frozen mid-wave. There's a dark seam running through it, a road or a frozen river, the only line that isn't snow. I've seen this view exactly once, from the small plane window, pressing my forehead to the cold glass. The engine droned. The trees went on forever. Nobody lives down there. Nobody needs to. The forest keeps its own council under all that white, holding warmth for the small lives that stay. A fox, maybe. An owl. Something patient. The light was low and blue, that winter light that makes everything look like a held breath. I watched until the wing tilted and the white turned to shadow. There's a kind of loneliness up there that doesn't ache. It just is. Like the land itself is thinking slowly, one season at a time. I came back warmer in some way I can't explain. Some views you don't photograph so much as carry. This one I still carry. The snow squeaks under my boots even now, when I remember it. #aerialview #winterforest #snowytrees
