The forest is white with frost and he's standing in the middle of it like he's been waiting for me. Brown dog, steady eyes, a little gray on the face now, paws planted on the frozen trail. I breathe in and the air is so cold it almost has a shape. The reeds on either side are coated white, each one separate, each one perfect. He doesn't move. I don't move. For a minute the whole trail is just breath, white on white, the soft click of ice settling in the trees. This is what attention feels like when it finally stops running. Not empty. Full. Full of one dog, one path, one cold morning that asked nothing of me and gave everything. #frosty #mindfulwalk #dogwalk
