This butterfly has been on this flower for three hours and honestly? Same. I planned to be productive today. Instead I'm watching a bug have a better day than me. Look at those wings. Black with white polka dots like it raided a formal closet. And the flower is doing this orange trumpet thing, all skinny petals pointing everywhere. Very extra. Very committed. I tried to take a photo with my phone and got twelve shots of my thumb. The butterfly didn't even look up. It's too busy drinking. Focused. Unbothered. Everything I aspire to be. The background is this dreamy blue blur that photographers spend big money to fake. This little guy does it for free. My respect is immeasurable. Also slightly jealous. Also I just realized I've been crouched behind a bush for twenty minutes like a weirdo. Worth it. Its antennae are doing that little testing-the-air wiggle and I felt that. Same, buddy. Same. The flower looks like a bunch of tiny orange fireworks frozen mid-pop. I gave the photo a name. His name is Gerald now. Gerald the Unbothered. Ten out of ten, would squat again. #butterfly #macrophotography #polkadot #nature
