Smell this. Go on. That green, peppery bite of a tomato vine after the hose has been on, leaves warm and fuzzy, stems thick as fingers. One fruit has started to turn, orange creeping up from the bottom like sunrise on a little planet, and the rest are holding at green, tight and full of purpose. The cafe near my old apartment had tomatoes like this in a bowl by the register, and I'd stand there smelling them until the barista started side-eyeing me. Worth it. The smell is half grass, half thunder, all summer. Bite a green one and your jaw remembers why people wait all year for August. Sharp enough to wake you up. Then a ripe one, warm from the sun, and the sweetness lands slow, like syrup finding its way down warm bread. This plant is doing both at once, a whole menu on one branch. I water mine and pretend it's a hobby. It's a relationship. The leaves drip. The fruit hangs. Dinner plans itself. Salt. Bread. Repeat. Basil on top if you're fancy. I'm fancy. #tomatoes #garden #sensory #summerkitchen
