Rust, slate, cream, the odd blue one like a held breath. Thousands of stones, pressed shoulder to shoulder, each one a different size and a different age. I breathe in. I breathe out. The mind wants to sort them, count them, name every color. Let it. Then let it go. The stones don't care. They've been here longer than counting. The light moves across them slowly, warming the pale ones first. I sit on the cold ground and watch it happen. Ten minutes of nothing and my shoulders drop an inch. Attention is a strange gift. You give it away all day and nobody thanks you. Give some to a riverbed and watch it come back. #pebbles #mindfulness #riverstones
