White on white. Eggs in a carton, two of them with sleepy little smiles drawn on, a sprig of eucalyptus resting across the top like a green eyebrow. The paper underneath is crumpled in the good way. Someone did this on purpose. I think about whoever did this. Probably a Saturday morning, probably barefoot, probably humming. Someone sat with a marker and made an egg look content. I keep coming back to the one with closed eyes. It knows something the others don't. The speckled ones on the side are just eggs. Unbothered. Doing nothing at all, which is a skill. Wish I could. The light is soft and even. No shadows to hide in. Not one. Everything here is patient. Nothing is rushing. Breakfast, but make it gentle. That's the whole picture. That's enough. I put my coffee down and just looked for a while. The room was quiet. Five minutes, maybe ten. It didn't ask me for anything. Neither did the eggs. They just sit there, being eggs, being funny, being enough exactly as they are. Maybe that's the trick. Not trying to be more than an egg. Not trying to be more than this one quiet minute. #eastereggs #whiteminimal #slowliving
