Stand still here and the cold teaches you how to breathe. Slow in. Slower out. The creek is frozen solid, dusted with frost crystals that look like tiny white flowers pressed into the ice. The sun sits low, almost at eye level with the trees, and every bare branch turns into fine wire against the blue. Snow banks lean over the banks, soft and slow. No wind. Nothing moves except your breath, visible for a second, then gone. That's the practice, right there. Watch the frost. Count three trees. Let the cold pinch your cheeks until you feel exactly where your face ends. The ice holds small air bubbles, frozen mid-rise. Everything paused. You don't have to fix the frozen water. You just have to notice it. Breathe in four. Hold. Out four. Do it again. The winter isn't going anywhere. Neither should you. The reeds at the water's edge are stiff with rime. Footprints from yesterday hold their shape. Somebody walked here, decided to turn back. Good choice. There's nothing to solve in snow. The light is doing that thing, the low golden thing that makes everything look like a memory of itself. #winter #frozen #mindfulness #cold
