So I drove toward the storm because I'm smart like that. Big dark clouds parked over the highway, mountains hiding behind them, and me with a quarter tank of gas and zero regrets. The road goes straight forever, yellow dashes doing their little tap dance, and the desert on both sides is just scrub and rocks and vibes. I told myself I'd turn around at the next sign. There was no next sign. Classic. I've made worse decisions for less dramatic lighting. The clouds look like a ceiling somebody painted in a hurry, all grey and purple and attitude. My playlist was three songs long. Two of them were about rain. I took that as a sign. Then it started spitting, and I pulled over, and the sky put on a whole show for an audience of one very damp idiot. Worth it. The mountains came out after, all hazy blue, like they'd been there the whole time. Rude. Would chase another storm tomorrow. Probably in a rental car. Asked the rental guy. He hung up. Five stars. #deserthighway #stormchaser #roadtrip #clouds
