I found these on a roadside stop about two hundred miles from anywhere. Pulled the van over because the blue was doing something ridiculous and the daisies were posing in it like they knew. White petals, yellow hearts, the whole field with its chin up at the sky. There's a stone wall at the edge and a bit of roof from a farm I never found. No gate. No sign. No fence you couldn't step over. So I did. My shoes were wrong for it. My map was a scribble. Perfect. The clouds were the piled-up kind, the ones that make you drive toward them just to see. I've got nowhere to sleep tonight and a tank of gas and this. The wind came through and every flower leaned the same way, like a crowd doing a wave. I lay down in it for an hour. Bees everywhere. Nobody cared. The road is still out there, waiting. It can wait. This is why you don't book everything. Some afternoons the detour is the whole trip. I filled a water bottle and left the daisies standing. #daisies #roadtrip #bluesky
