I sat on the floor and breathed until the room settled. In for four. Hold. Out for six. He didn't move. Not once. Those blue eyes just stayed level with mine, calm as water at dawn. The world outside this room is loud and fast and full of things that want my attention. In here there's only this: one small cat, one slow breath, one patch of light that hasn't moved in minutes. My shoulders dropped somewhere around the third exhale. I stopped checking the time. He never does. Cats are good at paying attention to exactly one thing, and right now that thing is me. Or maybe the wall behind me. Either way, I feel seen. Breathe in. Breathe out. The dark behind him is soft. Nothing here is urgent. Nothing here ever was. The radiator ticks. A car passes, far off, gone. He blinks first, which feels like permission to stop trying so hard. So I stop. The room stays. He stays. That's plenty. Nothing is being asked of me right now, and somehow that's the gift. Good enough. I'll take it. #mindfulness #breathe #quietmoments
