Between the cranes and the cargo ships, the light still lands soft.
This harbor does not slow down. Boats stacked three deep at the dock, a freighter taking on weight in the background, cranes leaning over the water like old men watching a game. Somebody's loading. Somebody's unloading. Somebody's checking a watch.
Stand at the edge anyway. Let the noise do what noise does.
Breathe in. Salt, diesel, distance.
Breathe out.
The sun is low and it turns the whole scene gold at the edges, even the working parts. Even the rust. Even the plastic buoys bouncing against the hulls. Light doesn't check what's worthy before it lands. It just lands.
Notice the small boat in front, white and blue, tied up and patient. It isn't going anywhere today. Neither are the gulls on the roof of the wheelhouse. Neither, for the next minute, are you.
Nothing here needs your opinion. Nothing here needs your help. The harbor was working before you arrived and will keep working after you go.
That's a relief, if you let it be.
In. Out. Stay for one more breath. Then step back into the noise, a little slower than before. #harbor #boats #sunset #mindful
