I didn't plan this stop. I was driving between two cities I can't remember and took a turn because the light was doing something. Best decision I've made all year. Ten minutes off the highway and the whole week changed. The road goes straight into the gold, trees leaning over it like an entrance to somewhere better than here. Leaves everywhere, ankle deep, crunching under my boots while the last sun comes sideways through the trunks. I walked until the road ran out of ideas and turned into a trail. No phone signal. No plan. Just the sound of my own steps and a wind that kept dropping leaves on my head like a welcome. I've got nowhere to be until dark. Maybe not even then. Some roads you take with your feet, not your wheels. #autumnroad #goldenhour #ontheroad
