She's got the wand in both hands like it's the most serious job in the world. Two years old and already better at commitment than I'll ever be. Cheeks puffed, eyes squeezed shut, the whole blonde bangs situation doing whatever it wants. I remember that concentration. I remember everything taking exactly this much effort, this much love. She's been at it for twenty minutes. Some bubbles worked. Most didn't. She doesn't care. Neither do I, honestly. There's a balloon in the background from somebody's birthday and she hasn't even looked at it. She has bubbles. Bubbles are enough. Behind her the brick wall is warm and ordinary, which is exactly what a childhood should look like from far away. Nothing dramatic. Just brick and light and a kid with a wand. I keep taking pictures so I won't forget. I'll forget anyway. That's fine. #bubbles #toddlerlife #childhood
