Look at the stripes. Three of them, white with a black outline so crisp it looks drawn on. Some fish wear patterns. This one wears a costume. The middle one swells around the eye, and the eye itself is a hard black bead with a ring of orange. His body is the deep orange of a carrot, going almost red near the tail. Every scale has an edge, and the edges catch the light one at a time. The anemone around him is a forest of purple tentacles, hundreds of them, each one tipped with a lighter bulb like a tiny brush. You can see the knob on the end of every one. He moves and they part for him, then close. Over and over. The tentacles nearest his face are slightly out of focus, which is how you know how close this is. Closer than you think. Always closer. #clownfish #macro #underwaterphotography
