The road hugs these enormous red cliffs like a shy cat. Everything here is big, big, big, so you have to look small. I found a tiny cactus at the roadside, no bigger than my thumb, sitting in its own private rockscape with a flower on top like a little hat. Cute. The cliffs are all stripes, rust and cream and pink, like a cake someone baked for giants. Clouds drift past so slow you can wave at them twice. Little green bushes hug the ground, trying their best. I gave one a name. Its name is Gerald. Gerald is thriving. The road itself is warm from the day, and when the light hits the rock it goes soft and glowing, like a nightlight for the whole valley. I'd like to live in one of these ledges. Small door. Tiny window. A very good view. The clouds overhead are puffy and unconcerned, the storybook kind you could nap on. Even the stones look toasted. Warm light, warm rock, warm heart. This place is a blanket made of stone. I napped once against a wall like this. Warm. Safe. Ten out of ten. #redrock #canyonroad #cute #warmlight
