Late June, and the lupines have gone absolutely feral. I love it. Pinks, purples, the occasional white one like a mistake that turned out perfect. It's the kind of color that makes you forgive the mosquitoes. There's a whole hillside of them behind my parents' old house, and every year I swear I'll take a proper photograph, and every year I just stand there with my mouth open. It smells like honey and warm dust. Bees everywhere, busy little drunks. I picked one stem once and it wilted by dinner, which I think is the lupines telling me to look but don't touch. Fair enough. Bring a blanket. Bring nothing. Just sit in the purple until the light goes long and soft. Nothing on your calendar. Nothing in your hands. #lupines #summerflowers #cozyvibes
